Ingredients

  • 2 cans strawberry pie filling (or 4 cups fresh strawberries tossed with ½ cup sugar)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 box yellow or vanilla cake mix
  • ½ cup (1 stick) cold butter, sliced into thin pats

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a 9×13 baking dish, spread the strawberry pie filling evenly. (If using fresh berries, mix them with sugar first.)
  3. In a small bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Drop spoonfuls of this mixture over the strawberries.
  4. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top—do not stir.
  5. Arrange butter slices evenly on top of the cake mix.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the top is golden and the filling is bubbly.
