Ingredients (Serves 4):
For the Patties:
• 1 lb ground beef
• 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
• 1 egg
• 1 tbsp ketchup
• 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tsp onion powder
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• Salt & black pepper, to taste
For the Gravy:
• 2 tbsp butter
• 1 small onion, thinly sliced
• 1 cup sliced mushrooms
• 2 tbsp flour
• 2 cups beef broth
• 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tsp ketchup
• Salt & pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Form the Patties:
In a bowl, mix all patty ingredients until well combined. Shape into 4 oval patties.
Sear the Steaks:
Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook patties 3–4 minutes per side until browned (they don’t need to be fully cooked yet). Remove and set aside.
Make the Gravy:
In the same skillet, melt butter. Add onions and mushrooms, cook until soft (about 5–6 minutes).
Stir in flour and cook 1 minute. Slowly whisk in beef broth, then add Worcestershire and ketchup. Bring to a simmer.
Simmer Together:
Return patties to the pan. Cover and cook over low heat for 10–15 minutes, or until patties are cooked through and the gravy thickens.
Serve:
Spoon gravy generously over the steaks. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles.
