- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
For the Stir-Fry:
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced (optional)
For the Sauce:
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
For Cooking and Serving:
- 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil
- Cooked white or brown rice
- Chopped green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
- Marinate the Steak:
In a bowl, combine steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, rice vinegar, black pepper, and salt. Toss and let sit for 10–15 minutes. - Prepare the Sauce:
In a separate bowl, whisk all sauce ingredients together. Set aside. - Sear the Steak:
Heat 1–2 tbsp vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add steak in a single layer (cook in batches if needed). Sear for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside. - Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
Add another tbsp of oil to the pan. Stir-fry onions, bell peppers, garlic, and ginger for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp. - Combine & Simmer:
Return steak to the pan. Pour in the sauce and stir well to coat. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens and everything is heated through. - Serve:
Serve over hot cooked rice. Garnish with green onions. For a sizzling effect, pour the hot mixture onto a preheated cast-iron skillet just before serving.
